Today's faster presses simply exceed the capability of people to manually handle the off-loading and hopper-feeding operations.  Sage Automation's full service robotic systems can feed gluers, buffer product, or palletize product directly off of the web press.

Off Gluer Palletizing

Sage Automation provides all the equipment needed to palletize cases of cartons directly off the gluers.  Partial bottom flaps are easily handled with Sage Automation's specially designed infeed conveyors and end effector.  Tie sheets are automatically placed.

Multiple gluers can be handled at high rates of speed using full row picks.  For complex piling patterns, multi-segment end effectors are available.  Each system produced by Sage Automation is individually designed for the operation at hand.  Customized operator screens make all the converting operations easy to implement.

Off Press Palletizing

Closed gantries permit product handling from process to process by working overhead.  This enables use of floor space for conveyors, process machines, packaging components, pick-from bins, and easier access for fault recovery.

Multi-Segment End Effector

One example of a multi-segment end effector has multiple forks and is divided into ten separate segments.  It can pick a full row of product from a web press and place stacks of product individually.

Multiple streams of product can be handled at high rates of speed using full width web picks.  Should the streams contain alternating artwork, this end effector can place one artwork type on one gluer and the other type on a different gluer.

Auto Web to Gluer Feeding (Gantry and/or Arm Robot)

Eliminate WIP with a Sage Automation Web-to-Gluer system.  Sage Automation's system includes product handling conveyors, gluer infeed conveyors, and real-time buffering.  The robot takes care of everything; just enter the product code and all else is automatic.

Multiple presses and gluers can be handled at one time.  The robot will buffer a product when a gluer is down, then use that product to feed the gluer when the web is down.  This keeps both pieces of equipment running at their maximum rates.  Each system produced by Sage Automation is individually designed for the operation at hand.  Customized operator screens make product selection and allocation easy.
